I work with people who are truly wicked. Wicked smart! Wicked creative! Wicked thoughtful! Clearly, I happen to prefer the definition of “wicked” as an adverb: very, extremely. Of course, it’s also an adjective, meaning fierce, among other things.
It is an absolute privilege to know wicked people in my professional life. They never hesitate to help. They say, “yes” rather than “no.” They offer their expertise, time, and feedback without hesitation. They understand how it feels to be under a tight deadline and know how to exceed expectations. Their willingness to offer their best, motivates me to be my best.
I learn from the wicked people in my life. How to listen. How to be heard. How to use my skills to assist my clients. Most especially, I learn when to recognize that I don’t have all the answers, or I don’t always understand. The wicked people in my life share their knowledge, mentorship, and talent. They are amazing and continuously propel me forward.
Who are the wicked people in your field? In your day-to-day workplace? In your profession? Do you connect with or aspire to be like them? Are they nationally recognized leaders or quiet doers? Tell them you appreciate them. Thank them for support and guidance. Thank them for being wicked!
