Disclaimer: This blog isn’t about what you think it’s about.
How’s your time management? Are you a list maker? Do you thrive under the pressure of a deadline? Or, are you a firm believer that schedules, deadlines, and dinner reservations are merely suggestions?
I’m not a chill person.
I absolutely do like deadlines. In fact, I like to under promise and over deliver. That’s probably an overused phrase. I suspect a better way to explain myself is that, as a communications professional, I want to exceed the expectations of my clients, whenever possible. We all do. We are contributors, and we care about our clients. It’s our role to provide sound advice, excellent work product, and to meet our deadlines.
It doesn’t always happen. We can hear the seconds on the clock ticking away at times. Sometimes we thrive on those last seconds. Other times, it might be stressful. But the importance of meeting our deadlines should never be overlooked. Think of a deadline as a goal. An accomplishment. Something which ultimately leads to success.
The next time you’re “on the clock,” think about the tick. And the tock. Don’t wait until the alarm sounds. And never hit the snooze button!
